ACC Group Class Schedules

We have 4 new group classes starting in the next couple of weeks at a new indoor location in Deep Ellum.  The class descriptions are below and you can go to http://www.caninesfirst.com/group-classes.php to register.
Basic obedience skills are a prerequisite for all classes, and all ages (human and dog J ) are welcome.  Traci can tailor within the classes for different age and/or skill levels.

Beginning Flyball -

Flyball is a dog sport in which two teams of four dogs race against each other and the clock.  The race is composed of heats in which each of these four dogs are required to jump four hurdles, trigger a box that deploys a ball, catch the ball and then retrieve the ball over the four hurdles to the start line successfully and in order.  The team that performs this "relay" with no errors and the fastest time wins the race.  Dogs that excel at this sport are energetic, focused, and have the desire to retrieve, but any dog can play.  Any size breed and mixed breeds are welcomed.

In this class, Traci Murdock teaches the principles of motivation without force and technical aspects of the sport, including sequence jumping, ball retrieval, and proper box turns.  Dogs should have a working knowledge of the basic obedience commands to participate.

Please bring a copy of your dog’s shot records to the class.  After mastering the concepts taught in this class, you can move up to Intermediate and Advanced Flyball classes, which will build on the basics, teaching speed and passing, provide distraction training, and prepare you and your dog to compete in regional tournaments.  Traci incorporates NAFA and U-Fli rules to teach students the fundamentals of Flyball competition.

Pre-Sports -

Are you interested in dog sports, but just can’t decide?

Would you like to know more about activities you and your dog can get involved in?

In her Pre-Sports class, Traci Murdock incorporates foundation skills for all the major dog sports – Agility, Flyball, Frisbee, and Freestyle.  Students begin by practicing control commands and progress to sports-specific commands.  The goals of the class are to increase and maintain your dog’s focus in high-distraction environments, sample active dog sports, and to have fun.  Students will be taught the meaning of motivation and drive to enhance their dog’s natural strengths of jumping, running, retrieving, and play and get to sample some of the equipment used in dog sports.

Hollywood Dog –

Is your dog just waiting to be discovered?  Are you convinced he’s cuter, smarter, and more talented then all
                         those dogs
you see in the movies or in ads?

In her Hollywood Dog class, Traci Murdock will teach you and your dog what you need to know to break into show biz.  She will teach you some of the most common skills/tricks that producers ask for and how to quickly train a trick that you don’t know, if it’s requested on the production set.  You will learn how to send your dog to a mark to perform and practice working for others, and how to build new tricks from known commands.  I will also provide some talent agent contacts and we will have a photo session on graduation day so that you will have head shots to send out.

Competition OB / Rally (Beginning) –

Are you interested in competing in Obedience or Rally classes?

Learn the commands and skill necessary to enter the show ring in this class.

In her class, Traci Murdock will give you an overview of competition and teach you the foundation skills necessary for beginning Novice classes at Obedience and Rally trials.  Obedience sessions will cover the exercises required to step in the ring and you will learn the signs and stations required during Rally sessions.  She will provide an overview of how to enter and what to expect during your first trial for either discipline, and you will practice the exercises in a group setting to train for distractions.
